Whether you are setting up a new website or updating your Facebook profile, content really and truly is King -- or Queen, depending on your point of view.

When writing, you need to specifically write for your audience. Write something that interests them; something that makes them laugh or something that makes them think.

Some key points are:

1) Short and to the point. Unless you're writing a blog, or an article, usually keep your website posts to about 200 words or Facebook posts to about 100-150 -- although of course, there are always exceptions.

2) Use spell check! As an editor, spelling and grammatical mistakes make me cringe. Obvious spelling mistakes -- and use of short-hand texting language -- will not only jar the reader's eye, it will show a definite lack of professionalism.

3) Know your subject. If you don't know what you're talking about, and sound like it, the reader will leave your page faster than you can say "phony."

So there you have it. Please let me know if you have any questions about content -- or anything else "wordy."
